National Night Out is an annual community-building campaign that promotes police-community partnerships and neighborhood camaraderie to make our neighborhoods safer, better places to live.
The Florham Park Police Department holds National Night out on the first Tuesday of August on the Elm Street Fields (Volunteer's Memorial Park) at 37 Elm Street. This event grows larger and larger each year. The evening events include police department displays and demonstrations, free food, door prizes and face painting.
The Florham Park Police Department often receives complaints and concerns about the riding of bicycles by juveniles, in a reckless manner and without helmets, specifically in the center of town.
New Jersey State Law mandates children under the age of 17 MUST wear a helmet. In order to encourage compliance with helmet usage the Florham Park Police Department offers our "Bike Helmet Rewards" program. This program rewards children found wearing helmets with a "ticket" entitling them to one (1) free donut or ice cream at Florham Park Dunkin' Donuts / Baskin-Robbins, or one (1) free ice cream at Florham Park McDonald’s, compliments of Florham Park Dunkin' Donuts / Baskin-Robbins and McDonald’s.
The Florham Park Police Department takes the safety of children seriously. Please help us to help you by having a conversation with your child about the importance of obeying traffic laws while riding bicycles and wearing helmets.
No agenda or speeches, just a chance to ask questions, voice concerns, and get to know the officers in your neighborhood!
Coffee with a Cop events are designed to bring police officers of the community together with the community members they serve – over coffee – to discuss issues and learn more about each other. The mission of the initiative is to improve trust and build relationships, one cup of coffee at a time.
The Florham Park Police Department runs several Coffee with a Cop events each year. Similar events such as Ice Cream with a Cop events are also scheduled. Dates and times for these events will be posted on this website as well as on our social media pages.

Project Safe Night Out is a “Mischief Night” alternative which has been a dominant factor in reducing “Mischief Night” vandalism and creating a positive bond between the officers of the Florham Park Police Department and the children of Florham Park for over 20 years.
Each year over 700 Florham Park students in grades K-8 attend this popular free event which is held at the Florham Park Roller Rink. Look for permission slips and information to be sent home, with your children, from school in late September.
